Traditional vs Korean Lash Lift: What's the Difference?
If you've had a lash lift before, you might be wondering why we now only offer the Korean Lash Lift, and whether it's really that different. The short answer: yes. The biggest difference is something most people never notice until they see it side by side, and it's all about where the lifting solution can go.

First, what does a lash lift actually do?
A lash lift reshapes your natural lashes from the base so they sit lifted and curled, like you've just used a lash curler, except it lasts around 6 to 8 weeks. Your lashes are gently set onto a silicone shield, then a lifting solution softens the bonds inside each lash so it can take on the new shape. A second solution sets that shape in place.
The traditional lash lift: the middle of the lash only
Traditional lifts use a stronger formula. It works quickly and is great at moving stubborn lashes, but it's too harsh to put on the fine ends of your lashes. So with a traditional lift, the solution only goes on the middle section of the lash. The tips are deliberately kept clear.
That means the ends of your lashes are never actually treated. They follow the curl because they're attached to the part that was lifted, but they haven't been set themselves. It's also the stronger formula that can leave lashes feeling dry, and it's the one with that perm-like smell some of you will remember.
The Korean lash lift: root to tip
The Korean Lash Lift uses a gentler formula. Because it's kinder to the lash, we can take it all the way through to the tips instead of stopping halfway. Every part of the lash is lifted and set, so the curl is smooth and even from the base right to the very end.

The difference at a glance
- Where the solution goes: traditional lifts treat the middle only; the Korean lift treats right through to the tips.
- How it treats your lashes: the Korean formula is gentler, with less risk of over-processing or dry, frizzy ends.
- Smell: the Korean formula is mild, almost odourless. No more perm smell.
- Grow-out: because the whole lash is set evenly, it grows out more smoothly.
- Aftercare built in: our Korean lift is a 7-step process with extra conditioning and care steps, compared to the 5-step lift we used to offer.

Curled, open and lifted right to the ends. No mascara, no curler.
Who is it best for?
Honestly, most people. It's especially good if you:
- get lash lifts regularly and want to look after your lashes long term
- have fine or delicate lashes
- have had a lift before and found your ends looked a bit straight or frizzy
- just want a softer, healthier approach
Your Korean lift takes a little longer than a traditional one, because the gentler formula is given the time it needs. Your lash artist will choose the right shield and timing for your lashes, so the curl suits your eye shape.

Aftercare in a nutshell
- For the first 24 hours, avoid steam, saunas, long hot showers, mascara and sleeping face down.
- Lukewarm water is fine. The old "no water for 24 hours" rule comes from older formulas.
- After that, treat your lashes normally. A nourishing lash serum keeps them soft and flexible.
- Skip the lash curler, and rebook every 6 to 8 weeks.
